Electrical Mains

Burwood, 3125

When this Melbourne client came to us wanting solar, battery storage, and EV charging installed, our assessment revealed their existing single-phase mains didn't have enough capacity to support it all — let alone future upgrades. We upgraded them to a 3-phase mains connection, complete with a new steel meter panel and switchboard, unlocking the capacity for a larger solar and battery system with plenty of headroom to charge two EVs at once.

We were originally called out to inspect a minor lighting fault — but on inspecting the switchboard, we discovered the mains cabling had deteriorated to a critically unsafe point. Given the home's relatively low electrical demand, we upgraded the mains while keeping it single-phase, resolving the immediate safety risk without unnecessary cost.

Malvern East

For this Malvern East project, our client's volume builder required the neighbouring property's overhead power line to be relocated. As moving the overhead point of attachment wasn't within regulations, we found an alternative solution — Using the existing underground pit and upgrading the neighbour's mains supply, keeping the whole project compliant and moving forward smoothly.

"For this project, we installed sub mains to a newly constructed 200m² shed — running 50 metres of trenching and sub mains cabling from the main switchboard to a new switchboard, delivering safe, compliant power to the outbuilding."

We were called out by a client whose power had been cut by their DNSP (the local power authority) after their overhead fuse mains box was found to be dangerously deteriorated and was defected for safety. We attended promptly to install a new fuse mains box (FOLCB), and once completed, notified the DNSP — who reinstated power the same day.
